Press Release: MCT’s 24-Hour Play Festival

Marshfield Community Theatre Presents One-Act Festival Showcasing Local Talent and Creativity

Marshfield, Aug. 14, 2023 — Get ready to immerse yourself in an evening of theatrical magic as Marshfield Community Theatre (MCT) proudly presents its One-Act Festival. This fun event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Aug. 19 at 7 PM, at the Jubilee Theater Center, where the spotlight will shine on a collection of original one-act plays, each written, staged, and brought to life within the exhilarating timeframe of just 24 hours. The festival promises an unforgettable showcase of the extraordinary talents within the Marshfield community.

The One-Act Festival is a testament to the exceptional artistic talent of local writers, performers, and directors. With creativity at its forefront, this family-friendly event offers an evening of entertainment that will leave audiences of all ages delighted and inspired. The festival features a diverse array of short plays, carefully crafted to evoke laughter, tears, and a deep sense of connection.

“This event has been something I’ve been looking forward to doing at MCT for awhile,” said Kelby Lorenz, the event’s coordinator and MCT’s Marketing Director. “While I’m not looking forward to losing a full night of sleep, I am excited to see what our teams put together to entertain our community.”

Kelby said that the idea came from seeing a similar event at Lindenwood University, where he studied for his undergraduate degree, and wanted to bring it to his hometown community. In addition, he knows that this will be a unique opportunity for people to learn about theatre and test their abilities.

“We wanted this to be a low-stress environment for people to try new things and explore their creativity,” he said. “So, I really hope the community comes out to support them and the work they’ve done, in addition to supporting MCT.”

The event is doubling as a fundraiser for the organization, to help offset costs of operating as a theatre troupe.

Toni Lorenz, MCT’s Director of Development, emphasized the significance of the festival’s fundraising aspect: “As a 501(c)3 organization, Marshfield Community Theatre relies on the generosity of our community to continue nurturing the performing arts. The One-Act Festival serves not only as a showcase of our community’s talents but also as a crucial fundraising event. Every ticket purchased contributes to supporting MCT’s operational expenses and ensures that we can continue fulfilling our mission.”

Tickets for the One-Act Festival are available for the affordable price of just $10 per ticket, making this a wonderful opportunity for families, friends, and theatre enthusiasts to come together and celebrate the arts while contributing to MCT’s mission.

Don’t miss out on this enchanting evening of theatre and community spirit. Join us on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 7 PM at the Jubilee Theater Center to be a part of an unforgettable celebration of creativity and unity.
