MARSHFIELD, MO – Marshfield Community Theatre (MCT) invites audiences to experience the hilarity of modern romance with Speed Date, a one-act comedy featuring an all-high school cast. The production runs Feb. 27 through March 2 at the Jubilee Theater Center, located at 109 Commercial Street in Marshfield.
This 30-minute, fast-paced comedy follows seventeen eccentric characters as they navigate the chaotic world of speed dating. From an overly eager people-pleaser to a lovesick clown, each dater brings their own quirks to the table – all while racing against the clock to find love.
More than just a night of laughter, Speed Date serves as a fundraiser for MCT’s annual Education Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to graduating seniors who have participated in MCT productions. The initiative underscores MCT’s commitment to supporting young artists as they pursue their dreams beyond the stage.
“The students in this production have shown incredible growth throughout the rehearsal process,” said director Samantha VanWyhe. “They’ve developed their comedic timing, embraced character work, and learned the power of collaboration. It’s been inspiring to watch them bring this show to life.”
VanWyhe also emphasized the importance of MCT’s scholarship program. “MCT is all about fostering a love for theatre, and this scholarship is our way of investing in the next generation of artists, technicians, and storytellers. We want to make sure that their experiences here not only shape their time on stage but also help them as they step into their futures.”
