It’s officially fall! And while I’m still waiting on the temperatures to hit a consistent sweater weather, I’m also really excited to tell you about what’s happening with MCT’s Night of the Living Dead.
A Monochrome Masterpiece
What makes this show so unique is that it takes the 1968 cult-classic film and brings it to life on stage in person. What really sets it apart is the fact that every single aspect of the show is set in grayscale: from costumes, to props, to the set, to the makeup actors wear to make themselves look gray as well. The show is meant to feel like you’re watching the film live in front of you. It’s something completely new and unique to MCT, and I’m excited to have a great team help me bring this to life.
We’re working through all sorts of ideas to bring these concepts to life, so you definitely will want to see how it all comes together.
A Classic Tale with a Fresh Twist
“Night of the Living Dead” is a cult classic known for defining the zombie genre, and countless modern horror films pulls inspiration and callback to its groundbreaking storytelling. And, while we will honor the timelessness this story has, we’re also putting our own unique spin on it to keep it fresh.
At the center of the story is a classic horror-drama, where audiences are waiting to see if our characters can survive. But, as we’re working through the show, we’re introducing the feel of a psychological thriller, where audiences feel like they’re learning what’s happening alongside our characters, making it feel like the action is happening literally all around you.
A Diverse and Talented Cast
Our cast is nothing short of incredible. These talented individuals come from varied backgrounds in theater, each bringing their unique skills and energy to the show. I can’t help but get chills watching them transform into their characters during rehearsals. Trust me; this is a group of performers who are fully committed to delivering an unforgettable experience.
But, the really amazing thing about this cast is the diversity they bring. There are people from various backgrounds, races, ethnicities, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and those with diverse abilities. Working with such a unique and inclusive ensemble has been an incredible experience, and I can’t wait for you to see their relationships and love for theatre on stage.

Synopsis
Fall out from a satellite probe shot to Venus returns to Earth carrying a mysterious radiation that transforms the unburied dead into flesh-eating zombies. Seven people trapped in an isolated farmhouse, held hostage by the ravenous ghouls, begin to turn on each other as the dead encroach. A gripping terror-filled monochromatic play that brings all the fright of the cult classic to life. This blend of thrilling horror laced with touches of black humor envelops the audience in the action and unfolds into a shocking theatrical ending.
