Marshfield Community Theatre Presents a Heartwarming Holiday Classic: “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”

Marshfield, MO – Dec. 4, 2023

Marshfield Community Theatre is delighted to bring the spirit of the season to the Jubilee Theater Center with its production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” written by Barbara Robinson. Performed with licensing from Concord Theatrical, this heartwarming Christmas classic promises to captivate audiences of all ages.

The show will run for one weekend only from Dec. 7-9 at 7 p.m., and Dec. 10 at 3 p.m. The show is rated G for all audiences, and will be performed at the Jubilee Theater Center – 109 Commercial Street, Marshfield, MO 65706.

As the curtain rises, audiences will be introduced to the Herdmans, a group of kids notorious for their mischievous behavior. Smoking, cursing, bullying, and stealing are just a few of their exploits. However, their lives take an unexpected turn when they decide to participate in the church pageant, bringing their own unique flair to the holiday production.

“I’m honored to have The Best Christmas Pageant Ever be my first directing experience at Marshfield Community Theatre,” said director Samantha VanWyhe. “This show is a classic story that will absolutely resonate with audiences of all ages. I’ve had a blast working with such a talented cast and crew to bring this heartwarming story to life.”

The show has been rehearsing for just around 6 weeks, but have put together a fun story about acceptance and the true meaning of Christmas. With a cast consisting mainly of youth performers, this show has also doubled as a learning experience for all cast members.

Kelby Lorenz, the show’s production manager, said this about the education opportunity: “One of the things I love most about MCT is that we allow everyone the chance to audition and learn about theatre. I can see the progress that all of these students — and even the adults — have made, and I can’t wait to share it with our community.”

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” marks the last production of MCT’s 20th anniversary season this year. The theatre troupe has had its ups and down, Board Vice President Angie Hoffman says that this show is a great way to help end the year and celebrate the holiday season.

“This year has been an adventure in several ways,” she said. “But, due to the support of our community, we can say that our 20th season has been a success. While we still have our annual meeting and Holly Jolly Holiday Show later this month, I can’t think of a better production to end on than The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, reminding us of the power of understanding, kindness, and the true spirit of Christmas.”

Join Marshfield Community Theatre at the Jubilee Theater Center for a performance that promises to be both entertaining and thought-provoking. Tickets are available online at marshfieldtheatre.org or at-the-door.
